Every page measured, before you upload the book.

You bring the idea and the argument. InkReady AI writes the book with you, sets the paperback interior and the wrap cover, and measures the finished files against Amazon's published print rules and our own.

The rules

The other eleven rules

They are listed in the report's order, each labelled with whose rule it is. On the report itself every row prints the value it measured beside the value it required; this page shows what each rule checks and why it matters.

A check here is a measurement of these files against a stated requirement. It is not a statement about whether a store will accept the book.

How the report works

  1. Bleed is either on every page or on none

Mixing bleeding and non-bleeding pages produces a book with uneven edges.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    Passed
  2. Every font is embedded in the file

A font that is only installed on your computer prints as something else, or not at all.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    Passed
  3. The print files use print colour

Screen colour and print colour are different systems, and a press needs the print one.

    Our own rule

    Passed
  4. Every image is sharp enough at the size it is placed

This book places no images, so there was nothing to measure.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    No images
  5. The spine width matches the page count

The spine is calculated from the pages and the paper, so the cover wraps where it should.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    Passed
  6. The barcode area is clear

The printer places a barcode on the back cover, so that area has to be clear of artwork and text.

    Our own rule

    Passed
  7. Spine text follows the page-count rule

A thin book has no room for spine text, and text too near the fold prints on the front or back.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    Passed
  8. No printer marks, and the file is flattened

Crop and registration marks belong to a press proof, not to an uploaded file.

    A rule Amazon KDP publishes

    Passed
  9. The file matches the PDF/X-1a profile

A single printing profile with everything embedded, which is what a press expects.

Something Amazon recommends rather than requires

    Passed
  10. The back matter is present

Every back-matter heading the book was set with is found in the printed interior file.

    Our own rule

    Passed
  11. The margin calculation settled

Margins depend on the page count, and the page count depends on the margins. This says the loop reached a fixed answer.

    Our own rule

    Passed

The report also runs 20 further checks: 10 on the same print files, from the smallest type size to the file sizes, 9 on the ebook editions and 1 on the AI-disclosure record. 20 of 20 passed. Any of them that is an Amazon rule fails the whole report if it does not pass.

The book

What you bring, and what you get back

The wrap cover of The Weekly Review, laid flat on a sand-coloured ground: the back panel with the subtitle and a short description of the book on a white panel, and a white box below it where the barcode goes; the narrow spine; and the front, with the title, the subtitle and the byline InkReady AI in white on a dark navy band.
The wrap cover, cut from the file the report measured. Rule 8 found the spine 8.64 pt wide, which is what 48 pages on cream paper call for.

What you do, and what the product does

You give the book its thesis, the reader it is for and the points it must include, and you approve the outline. Nothing past the outline is written until you have.

Chapters are written one at a time from the approved outline, and you can read and edit every one.

If you edit the book after it is checked, the report says it no longer describes what you have.

KDP asks whether a book's text is AI-generated, and a book written here from an idea is AI-generated under KDP's definition. The disclosure answers we give you, and the line printed in the book, come from the record of how each section was produced.

We do not put your book on sale. There is no public KDP or Apple Books publishing interface, so you upload the files yourself, and acceptance is Amazon's decision. One book is written at a time per account, and there is no batch generation at any tier.

What you get back

  • The interior PDF and the cover PDF, as they were checked
  • The EPUB, the Word file and the screen-reading PDF, where the report checked them
  • The ebook cover as a JPEG of its own, for KDP's ebook cover upload, copied out of the EPUB where the cover checks measured it
  • The report as a PDF and as JSON, and the continuity report
  • The disclosure answers, frozen with the pack
  • A manifest naming the sha256 checksum of every file

What it costs

What a finished book costs

One credit is one finished book, print and ebook, up to 30,000 words. Without an account, the outline and the first chapter are free. With one, the outline is free and writing the chapters takes the book's credit.
